Resources I Wish I Had Known When Learning Frontend Programming

A few months ago, while browsing the web, I discovered two amazing free resources for programming. Upon seeing them, I felt a tinge of regret that I hadn’t known about these resources when I was first trying to learn programming.

There are multiple ways to learn programming on the internet, and I’m particularly fond of detailed text-based resources rather than video tutorials. I believe text resources encourage deeper thinking compared to video content. As an added benefit, text resources allow you to learn at your own pace, unlike videos which follow a fixed tempo. While I’m not opposed to video resources, I find them somewhat inconvenient for my learning style.

Everything I’ve learned in programming so far has come through hands-on experimentation and reading materials that I found interesting, regardless of the programming language or subject matter.

Resources I Find Valuable

I believe these are high-quality resources that anyone interested in frontend development should definitely try:

Ruby on Rails

For quite some time, I’ve been planning to learn Ruby on Rails, but I haven’t had the time and patience required for it. Perhaps I’ll make an effort to learn it before the end of this year and work on some interesting Ruby projects.

Side Note: I maintain this blog primarily to keep track of my ongoing learning activities.

Conclusion

Even though AI agents are coding more than ever before, I still believe humans need to learn programming and develop the ability to perform coding tasks themselves. Only then can they make informed decisions about when it’s appropriate to delegate tasks to AI. Until then, there’s always more to learn.
